Yes there are 3 different light hues. And I believe 5 levels of dim to bright. It will definitely assist in the application of makeup. The USB cable is only about 6 ft. They do sell longer cables at the mall and presumably on Amazon. This is USB c, same type of connection for newer phones.

After using it a few times, the side-emitting ring light line is also softer. I don't feel the problem.
